Tony Gollanâs flying filly Hijack Hussy has opened short-priced favourite in the 2014 Mode Stakes odds for Doombenâs George Moore Stakes Day on Saturday.

The Hussonet three-year-old is one of 14 fillies engaged for this yearâs $100,000 Listed Shelley Dale OHS Mode Stakes (1200m), the set weights clash to run as Doomben Race 5 at 3:25pm (local).
Drawn in gate eight with Timothy Bell to ride, she pays $2.20 in the latest Mode Stakes betting markets through Ladbrokes.com.au after winning her past two starts.
Two back she won at the Gold Coast over 1400m then on Melbourne Cup Day at Flemington on November 4 she enjoyed her first black type victory when beating home Sea Spray in the Listed Lexus Hybrid Stakes (1400m).
Hijack Hussy drops back in distance for Saturday with the Mode Stakes run over 1200m, the favourite boasting a nice record over the track and distance (2-1-1-0).
Sheâs followed in the Mode Stakes odds by four other single figure fancies with:
- #4 Tina Melina ($6) â Rails run for this lightly raced Jet Spur filly, a stable mate of the favourite and also coming off back-to-back wins. She has just her fourth start here after winning over this track and distance twice last month, most recently by three-quarters of a length on November 22 in a fine effort and Tegan Harrison stays on.
- #5 Lush Belle ($6) â Runner-up to Tina Melina last time out, this Gillian Heinrich-trained Gold Coast visitor won her opening three starts (one at Ipswich and two at home on the GC) before her Doomben loss last month. Better for that run, her first at the track, and 1200m should be more to her liking now sheâs had two goes at it.
- #7 Savoureux ($8) â Kris Leesâ Newcastle visitor is out wide in barrier 12 but lead-up form is too good to ignore. The daughter of Nadeem won first-up at Wyong before a second at Warwick farm over 1300m and second again this time on November 26 midweek at Canterbury over 1250m. Only a nose off the winner last time out and will appreciate the step back to 1200m for her Brisbane debut.
- #3 Shinji ($9) â Early money has come in with this Falvelon filly the notable market mover right in from $12. One of the best tested with eight career starts for three wins and two minor placings. Hasnât won this time in however but was a credible third behind Tina Melina and Lush Belle last start from a horror barrier 14 of 14 draw.
Just outside of the single figure hopes are then a host of other livewire chances including Trevor Baileyâs returning Lancaster Stakes winner Tales Of Fashion ($13) and the Toowoomba-trained Rich Reward ($15) coming a first-up win at Gatton over 1100m in a Class 1 handicap.
